ALMATY, (October 17, 2019) – Narxoz Law and Public Policy School organized an international conference called “Transnational business laws: erasing borders”. The conference attracted the most distinguished members of legal communities in academia and professionals from all around the globe to discuss contemporary transnational challenges that business lawyers confront today. The primary goal of the conference was to cover the latest “hot-topics” such as multinational corporations, alternative dispute resolution, legal complains, taxation and other trending topics in business law. In addition to a host of distinguished keynote speakers, the conference brought together international and local partners such as Penn State Law, KPMG, Kazakhstan Bar Association and Paragraph.
The conference in transnational business laws 2019 that was organized by Narxoz Law School is one of the first conferences of its kind. It attracted more than 150 people, including distinguished speakers, experts, practicing lawyers, and other official guests. The event lasted from 10:00 until 17:00 and was divided into main three main sections for panel discussion with experts of legal community.
The conference started with opening remarks from Dr. Andrew Wachtel, Rector of Narxoz University, William Harrison Courtney, the first US ambassador in Kazakhstan, and Eric Meyer, the current U.S. Consul General in Almaty. “Through conferences such as this, Narxoz University is raising its profile. Discussions that bridge the gap between academia and industry help inform public debate and shape effective solutions. And the talks offer international scholars a chance to learn more about Kazakhstan and its talented people” -said, William Courtney on his opening remarks.
“I think that this is a wonderful platform to discuss interesting and important topics in modern business law,” said Inna Alkhimova, KPMG partner. “We live in a time when law and business sectors are globalized with no borders. It is especially notable when people in different countries use online platforms for international business engagements.” Alkhimova thanked Narxoz Law School for organizing such a historic event and bringing together many recognized experts in law to speak as the leaders of the profession. “I have seen many practicing lawyers that came here to be the part of this visionary movement,” Alkhimova, “and I hope that this conference will be held annually, because law as a profession is evolving quickly with the intervention of AI and big data”.
