ALMATY, (October 15, 2019) – leading universities of Kazakhstan and the United States signed an official memorandum of understanding. The Law and Public Policy School of Narxoz University and Penn State Law School are pleased to announce they have entered into a global academic partnership offering a wide range of opportunities in research cooperation and academic mobility.
As an indication of commitment to the partnership, Penn State Law School’s Associate Dean, Stephen Barnes presented the new initiative for Law program students of Narxoz University. According to the new partnership, the most talented and distinctive students of Law school at Narxoz have opportunity to earn master’s degree in law (LLM) with a significant amount of discount in tuition and compete for a scholarship which covers the full amount of tuition at Penn State Law School.
“Kazakhstan was the center of ancient civilization, but it is a modern and one of the most economical influential countries in Central Asia. So, Narxoz is a learning center not only for Kazakhstan, but for Central Asia as well. The main point of collaboration is to engage with more Kazakh students on academic partnership. Additionally, law is globalized now, and it is very important to have Kazakh viewpoints and voices at Penn State” said, Stephen Barnes, adding that the extensive Penn State School of Law’s alumni network at Narxoz – which includes the dean of Narxoz Law and Public Policy School, Stanislav Buyanskiy – is conducive to successful cooperation between the two institutions.
